Regent Seven Seas prides itself on offering an all-inclusive luxury experience; even before you step onboard, all your worries are taken care of, from airfare to dining to on-shore activities. Amenities like unlimited shore excursions, pre-paid gratuities, and free unlimited Wi-Fi are just some of the distinguishing features of a Regent cruise. All meals and beverages are included in your cruise fare, as well as a stocked in-suite bar filled with your favorite liquor, wine, or champagne. There are seven unique dining venues and several bars located throughout the ship, and specialty restaurants are included in the rate. Over 130 new dishes were added to the menus on Grandeur, and there are more than 200 plant-based options served across the ship for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Compass Rose, Regent’s signature restaurant, received a gorgeous transformation by Studio DADO for Grandeur; behind a metal waterfall-like sculpture, guests will find an illuminated dining room that resembles a magical forest.

An introduction to Regent ships

Seven Seas Grandeur launched at the end of 2023 and elevates the line's 'standard offerings' (which are anything but standard) to a whole new level. Highlights include a 1,600-piece art collection including an exquisite Faberge egg, elaborate new production shows and more than 130 dishes created exclusively for the ship. The latest innovations in technology and wellness also take centre stage, like a zero-gravity wellness massage that takes place on an amber and quartz crystal bed -- one of Seven Seas Grandeur's invigorating new spa experiences.

If taking a tour of the wild north to Christoffel Park, then a visit to the Savonet museum is a must. It gives you a glimpse into the island’s history from 4,000 years ago with a keen interest in plantations, which were once the backbone of the island’s economy. It showcases the dark history of African enslavement and the resultant empowerment of Curacao through the slave trade. Curacao has an intriguing history made up sad tales of enslavement, colonial wars, and piracy. Two museums of interest in the island are the Kura Hulanda and the Savonet Museum. Pick up fresh fruit and interact with locals at the floating market in Punda.

Since September 2014, RSSC and the sister company Oceania Cruises are owned by NCL Norwegian (shipowner), acquired at the total cost of USD 3 billion. The fleet consists of 6-star rated all-suite and all-balcony vessels with a space-to-guest ratio ~70 and staff-to-guest ratio 1-to-1,6 (some of the industry's best). As building cost per berth, RSSC liners are among the world's most expensive ships. Regent lays claim to be the most inclusive experience among the major luxury cruise lines. Everything else -- including flights, shore excursions, beverages and onboard gratuities -- is included in the price, so there are no unexpected hidden extras that might give you palpitations at the end of the trip.

Seven Seas Grandeur rooms are well-designed, from the introductory Veranda Suite, which is efficient in its use of space, to the top-end Regent Suite, which includes every amenity you could imagine. Regent Seven Seas Cruises (RSSC), formerly known as Radisson Seven Seas Cruises, is a luxury cruise line headquartered in Miami, Florida. With so many destinations and itineraries to choose from, your next luxury holiday could be closer than you think. Highlights of the overnight stay programme include destinations such as Bangkok, Monte Carlo and Istanbul. Safaga, a popular jumping-off point for tours exploring the many wonders of Luxor in Egypt, is another highlight of Regent Seven Seas' extended stay programme.

If you're a fan of discovering the city's nightlife, there are more than 100 overnight ports of call to choose from. Regent lumps all of these ships together in one class, and we do, too, because they share many of the same features despite their size variation. Among standout features, all Explorer Class vessels have an elaborate cooking classroom, which doesn't exist on older Regent ships. Dubbed the Culinary Arts Kitchen, each of these venues has 18 individual cooking stations tricked out with top-of-the-line induction cooktops, stainless steel sinks and all sorts of cool cooking equipment. For the most part, the footprints of all three ships in this series are the same, but eagle-eyed cruisers will notice that Regent made a few tweaks to the design as the series developed. Like all such brands, Regent operates ships that are far smaller and more intimate than the giant floating megaresorts operated by Royal Caribbean, Norwegian Cruise Line and Carnival Cruise Line.

As a member of Regent's family of past guests, you can earn exclusive rewards and benefits designed to add to your experience on future Regent sailings. Benefits include cruise fare savings, priority shore excursions and dining reservations, free garment pressing and Wi-Fi, onboard cocktail parties on future sailings, and onboard cruise credits for referring friends or family. As you continue to sail with Regent, you'll move from Bronze, to Silver, all the way up to Titanium status, with increasing benefits as you go.

For men, collared shirts and trousers are required, though sports jackets and ties are optional. It’s not to say the quality is lacking but simply that we didn’t see the innovation we’d hoped for come to life. In a competitive luxury cruise market, where others are showing inspired approaches to cuisine, Seven Seas Grandeur felt a little flat. Decks 7 through 9 and Deck 14 are exclusively for cabins, with staterooms also located on decks 12, 10 and 5. During the day, passengers wear comfortable clothing appropriate to the sailing climate. Poolside, bathing suits and cover-ups (for women) are common, though swimwear is not allowed indoors.

Each restaurant pours a selected red and a white wine nightly, but if those wines aren't to your taste, you can request alternatives. At 6 p.m., casual wear is no longer permitted, and guests are required to dress in an “elegant casual” manner. For women, that means skirts with blouses or sweaters, pantsuits and dresses.

Cabins also underwent a thorough makeover, with updated upholstery, window treatments, carpeting and wall coverings. Seven Seas Voyager is a relaxing ship with a cultured but informal ambiance and a high crew-to-passenger ratio. Crew members are polite, proactive and pleasant; minimal announcements and a lack of queues enhance the feeling of refinement.

While not strictly an adults-only cruise line, Regent cruises are best for adults traveling without small children. The Club Mariner children’s program (for ages 5-17) is available on select sailings, but with many adult-focused spaces and entertainment, this ship is better suited for travelers without little ones. Guests can also learn about some of the works in the ship’s 1,600-piece art collection through a digital art tour offered through the Regent app. The Culinary Arts Kitchen — Regent’s cooking school at sea — is a gorgeous space where guests can learn how to make dishes inspired by the places they’re sailing to — without having to do any of the prep work or clean up. I took a class and learned how to make pasta al limone and crepes; I loved the hands-on instruction and picked up a few helpful tips to use when I cook at home. With a turquoise pool surrounded by dozens of sun loungers, several hot tubs, outdoor sports courts, and a host of daily activities ranging from trivia to live entertainment, there’s plenty to do on board the Regent Seven Seas Grandeur.

Most shore excursions (90 percent, according to Regent) are included in your fare as well. These aren't simply bare-bones tours; some include experiences like biking, wine tastings and visits to museums. A handful of paid excursions offer higher-end experiences, including special instruction, gourmet meals or premium wine-tasting.

Regent's two (soon to be three) Explorer Class ships are the creme-de-la-creme of the Regent fleet — the vessels you'll want to pick if you gravitate to the most new and modern vessels. Both space-per-passenger ratios and staff-to-passenger ratios are measurements used as shorthand for the luxury level of a vessel. Infants must be one year of age at the time of sailing to cruise with Regent.

But of all the activities the new world's largest cruise ship has to offer, my eight favorites are, for the most part, ones I've yet to see on another vessel. There's a reason Royal Caribbean's new mega-cruise ship is only operating seven-night sailings. For the vessel's interior design, RSSC contracted the Florida-based firm "Studio DADO". The DADO-designed venues include Observation Lounge, Constellation Theater, Card Room, Connoisseur Club, Pacific Rim Restaurant, ship's Spa as well as all the 55 suites (categories Penthouse, Grand, Superior). The 2023-built Seven Seas Grandeur cruise ship is the newest of RSSC-Regent's EXPLORER-class series, with sisterships Seven Seas Explorer (2016) and Seven Seas Splendor (2021). The vessel is currently planned for delivery and inauguration in 2023 November.
